Same shampoo. New zip code. Straw.
Ask around and the story has the same shape. Arizona, five years in: “my hair looks awful.” Las Vegas: “dry and split at the ends like crazy.” DC to Denver: “unrecognizable.” Third day back at college in Tennessee: “my skin has felt tight.”
Nothing in the bag changed. The shampoo came along in a moving box. So did the mask and the oil. And the hair that was fine at the old address turned to straw at the new one.
It has a feel that women describe the same way. Wet hair, after conditioner, “felt like velcro — impossible to brush, no slip whatsoever.” Greasy at the roots and dry at the ends, at the same time. Waxy ends “no matter how much conditioner I use.”
And under it, something heavier than vanity. “I look like I don't take care of myself,” one woman wrote. “I'm so embarrassed going out.”
“Why does my hair look like straw 😩”
“I moved from DC to Denver … my hair has become unrecognizable.”
